INDIANAPOLIS, August 13, 2015 — Following Game 1 of the Friday, August 14 doubleheader, Tribe players will transform into special Indianapolis Clowns jerseys for Game 2 as we honor Indianapolis’ Negro League baseball history. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the evening to benefit Play Ball Indiana. This very special Civil Rights Night is presented by the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.
“We are excited about the 4th Annual Civil Rights Game. It gives is an opportunity to promote the importance of equitable education and speak to Hoosiers in large scale,” said Indiana Civil Rights Commission’s Executive Director, Jamal Smith.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to honor the Clowns for their impact on the Central Indiana community. Additionally, we wish to shed light on the struggles for equality they faced, and that are still faced today.”
If you are at the game visit the bright orange Qtego display at the standings and lineup board, behind section 109, for assistance.
Remember, Indians home games are televised on Home Town Sports & News (HTSN), and all games are broadcast on WNDE-AM 1260, the iheartradio mobile app and at IndyIndians.com.
