The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that International League All-Star selection Chris Dickerson has been traded to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for a Player to be Named Later or cash considerations. The move allows the major league veteran to return to an American League Club, where Dickerson has spent parts of each of the last three seasons with the New York Yankees (2011-12) and Baltimore Orioles (2013).
Dickerson, who was recently elected as one of four Tribe All-Stars, began today’s action ranked tied for third among all IL batters with a .407 on-base percentage and eighth with a .309 batting average. The versatile outfielder’s impressive stint with the Indians also featured both a 16-game hitting streak and stretch of hitting safely in 21 consecutive starts from April 31 – May 25. Overall, he hit .309 (73-for-236) with 44 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 30 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
